Use an E-Cig? Traveling Abroad on Holiday? Make Yourself Aware.
If you are travelling abroad on your summer holidays this year and this is your first time of travelling abroad since becoming a vaper then fear not about taking your e-cig away with you, with a little bit of knowledge and making yourself aware about your holiday destination regarding vaping, you should be fine vaping on your holiday, after all the last thing you want to do is?return to smoking tobacco on your holiday?
Some countries around the world are not quite as tolerant as the United Kingdom when it comes to vaping, so google your destination before you leave the UK shores to check on your destinations laws concerning vaping, we’ve all heard the stories over the last few years of a US vaper in Saudi Arabia arrested and who spent 12 hours in a police cell due to it being illegal to vape on the streets in that particular country, or the Swedish vaper in Singapore where it was legal to vape but not legal to blow out a huge plume of vapour, he ended up with a $200 fine, It’s always safer to find out the rules before you go away.
When it comes to airlines in the UK they have a pretty standard set of rules for us vapers, UK airlines have been pretty lenient really when it comes to carrying the equipment with only safety advice dictating the best way to carry your vaping equipment, e-cig regulations change all the time and from one year to the next, so the responsibility lies with you as the vaper to check what you can do and what you cannot, but I will try to give you a few tips.

Can I take an e-cig on the plane?
Many airlines do allow you to carry your e-cig on board the plane as long as it’s in your carry on luggage, although it is always best to check with the airline before travel.
Can I take E-liquid on the plane?
As long as your e-liquid is not in a bottle of over 100ml and you keep it within a clear plastic bag alongside your other liquids that you usually take on holiday then you should have no problem, I actually prefer to just carry a 20 ml plastic bottle on the plane, all my other liquid will be packed within my suitcase which goes in the planes cargo hold, exact regulations vary from airline to airline but if unsure the airlines website does sometimes give you their best policy updates, but our UK airlines are very good with us vapers really as long as you follow a few basic regulations as any holiday make has to.
Do I put my e-cig in my suitcase?
All batteries must be carried in your hand luggage, so if your e-cig has a battery then no it cannot go in to your suitcase, but this has been the case for a few years now, due to pressure within the hold of a plane, batteries could leak or even explode, no matter if it’s an iPad, a cd player or your e-cig batteries, they all have to travel in your carry on luggage, some people may think this would make your carry on bag quite heavy but in real terms it does not really, if you were worried about carrying 18650 batteries in your hand luggage then take a rechargeable device with you instead and carry that in your hand luggage.
Can I charge my e-cig on the plane?
No, this is not permitted by any UK airline that I know of.
Can I vape or use an e-cig on a plane?
No, this is not permitted by any Worldwide airline that I know of, if you cannot smoke then you are not likely going to be allowed to vape, if you think you can get away with vaping in the aircrafts toilet then think again, there has been cases of vapers doing this and the smoke alarms being triggered on the plane.
Will my tank?leak on?the plane?
It has been known that cartomizers can leak and it has been known that tanks that are full to the brim have leaked or even cracked due to the changing pressure of the aircraft during flight, if you are taking spare tanks then leave them empty in your hold luggage, only carry with you what you need until you reach your final destination.
Can I use my e-cig at the airport?
Usually you cannot vape inside the airport, however if once you’ve gone through security there is a smoking room or walkway for smokers?then you can stand with the smokers and have a vape, I know it’s not great but airports do not believe in spending money on vapers or understand that we wish to stay away from stinky tobacco smokers and have a room of our own.
Can I take my e-cig through customs and security?
Yes, you are perfectly fine to go through security with e-cigs in your bag, years ago before most people had heard about e-cigs we did use to get questions from security, but these days most world security has learnt what they are and that there are so many styles of an e-cig.
Vaping at your destination?
Most countries do allow vaping whether that be in the hotel or on the street or in a designated area, but it is up to you to check your own destination, most of the bans in some countries were more a ban on selling e-cigs rather than banning the use of them however some countries have even gone this far and it is illegal to vape, so please google and check your own destination.

Above all remember to enjoy your holiday, vaping is a way of life for us vapers in the United Kingdom but some countries differ a lot from our own, some countries in Asia see vaping as dangerous to the health, this is based on false reports years ago by big tobacco and a gullible viewing audience who believe everything they are told on TV, other countries where vaping is not allowed by residents but is allowed by tourists do exist and you may have interested locals come around you to talk, vaping is different all over the world, some do and some don’t, so please be mindful and do your research, it’s better to be armed with a little knowledge about local vaping than to go with none at all and have your holiday wrecked due to being uninformed.

Why E-Cigarettes?
Why E-Cigarettes?, Electronic Cigarettes or E-Cigs are what is generally?known as a vaping device, it’s classed by users as an alternative to smoking a traditional tobacco cigarette.
Tobacco cigarettes are known to be responsible for killing many?thousands of smokers each year, tobacco contains so many harmful?chemicals and nasty substances that can’t be seen but they can?ultimately kill you, just the things you can see when using tobacco?include Bad Breath – Stinky Odor – Stained Teeth – Yellow Fingers and?Burn Marks On Your Clothing, so imagine all the unseen ingredients of?tobacco that could put you in a box six feet under.
This is why so many people have found vaping or using E-Cigarettes a?safer and more enjoyable alternative to traditional tobacco smoking,?Vaping or E-Cig use has No Tar to get in to your lungs and cause?breathing difficulties, vaping does not involve burning any kind of?tobacco, vaping does not create stinky smoke and because you don’t?burn tobacco you will get no ash or toxic substances and you will not?get what we’ve already talked about like Bad Breath – Stinky Odor – Stained Teeth – Yellow Fingers or Burn Marks On Your Clothing.
E-Cigarettes are already sounding amazing now aren’t they?
Well! to be honest they are!, more and more people are turning to?Electronic Cigarettes these days for the above reasons, ex smokers are?simply fed up of smoking and want an alternative to using tobacco but?one that offers them a much safer and enjoyable way to do it without?all the harm and let alone the cost of tobacco these days, smokers of?tobacco are these days staring to become a minority as the army of?vapers continues to grow at a very fast rate, vaping or E-Cig use is?increasing yearly and in the United Kingdom alone there is an?estimated 2.8 million vapers as of February 2017 and many many more?worldwide.
Electronic cigarettes are definitely a better safer alternative for?the smoker, they supply a smoker all they need, you have the ability?of having the nicotine you crave, in a way that is similar to smoking?a traditional cigarette, you still?hold something in your hand and?raise it to your mouth as you do with a traditional tobacco cigarette?and instead of blowing out stinky smoke, you can blow out a nice?scented vapour.
So your now asking yourself why you hadn’t heard of this before?
Well honestly Vaping or E-Cigarette devices have been around since?2007/2008 when some of us had to import very basic devices in from?China, these electronic devices looked very similar in size and colour?to the way a traditional cigarette looks it had a battery that heated?up a coil of wire which in turn vaporized an E-Liquid which you?inhaled, they worked as an alternative way of smoking and got quite a?few of us early users off tobacco cigarettes, since those years the?use of the devices has gained popularity and they have improved in?their design and now work in a more productive and efficient way?making it easier for newer user to pick up and try with great ease.
Almost over night e-cigarettes started becoming a very attractive?alternative for smokers wanting to quit tobacco so the vaping scene?became very popular and Electronic Cigarette devices started hitting?the market in large quantities and at a very fast rate, it pretty much?halted the tobacco industry and made them take notice that there was?now something that could help stop peoples dependency on tobacco?burning cigarettes.
It’s the first time a real practical alternative to tobacco use?appeared that smokers were happy to try and today thousands of smokers?worldwide are moving over to E-Cigarettes at an amazingly fast rate,
many smokers are becoming aware of the dangers of using tobacco with?all the stories in the media and the mountains of scientific proof?from medical specialists telling the population to stop using tobacco?that smokers are willing to try anything to get off tobacco and many?are looking at Electronic Cigarettes as the answer, thankfully E-Cigs?are working.
If you are interested in stopping smoking and you want a real?alternative then please give E-Cigarettes, Electronic Cigarettes or?E-Cigs a try.

What is the TPD? Tobacco Products Directive and what does this mean to you! Our Customers.
On May 20th 2016 the TPD or?Tobacco Products Directive came in to force in the United Kingdom and across Europe, The TPD is the governments way of bringing in and enforcing new laws regarding tobacco and products derived from tobacco?such as?nicotine, the EU authorities have also included e-cigs, vaping devices and e-liquids in this directive this comes under Article 20 of the Tobacco Products Directive.
Most of the rules and regulations that the European Union?came up with leading up to May 2016 is mainly due to big tobacco companies losing money and governments losing taxes, because we as individuals have chosen to vape instead of smoke, these tobacco companies have also been trying to get vaping banned over the last few years and have been lobbying government to do this, however the vaping industry and movement has become so large that banning something at this time is just not possible, so instead the world’s authorities have taken notice of us and decided to bring laws in for various reasons to make vaping better and safer for us, thus giving authorities a hold over the vaping industry.
On some points regarding the new regulations to you as a consumer, there are a few grey areas that we believe still need clarifying and tweaking, but on some, we as vapers believe that to make the industry better most of the regulations are welcomed, so we’ll try and give you a quick run down of what the regulations will mean to you as a customer and how it will affect your vaping in the future.
Latest Info.
This is the latest info as of February 24th 2017, some regulations are still being tweaked under the Tobacco Products Directive but this info should give you a general idea of how it stands on TPD Compliance and what we know so far for UK Customers purchasing products in our Vapour Shop or our web store at www.vapour-shack.com from 20th May 2017.
Changes to your E-Liquid.
The Maximum e-liquid bottle size you will be able to purchase under the TPD regulations is 10ml in size (if they contain nicotine). (Current regulations state that there is no minimum bottle size if the e-liquid is 0mg nicotine this is due to 0mg not being classed as a tobacco product).
10ml bottles cannot contain more that 20mg of nicotine per ml. (any vapers using 24mg or 36mg will not be able to purchase these strengths under the TPD regulations).
These 10ml bottles by law will have to have a sealed child proof bottle top.
Each 10ml bottle will have a very narrow nozzle to dispense the e-liquid from the bottle in to the tank you are using.
The bottle label has to clearly give you the customer a complete list of the ingredients contained within the bottle.
All e-liquids will have to?be submitted?for testing to an independent lab to make sure they conform to the new regulations before they can be sold to you the customer.
E-liquids will have to be a clear colour within the bottle, no colourings or additives?can be added to the liquids.
All outer packaging must conform to the directive and include relevant warnings about the use of that nicotine product.
Changes to your Tanks.
Tanks will only be able to hold a maximum of 2ml of e-liquid.
The tank will have to be completely leak proof, so if the tank was to fall over or be held upside down, no liquid can be allowed to escape the body of the tank.
Changes to your Battery Device.
In the past we have had devices that were variable wattage, variable voltage or temperature controlled, we could alter?the way we used these devices to give us the warm or cool vape we required, they would also allow us to produce clouds of vaper or alter the flavour we got from a particular flavour of e-liquid,?from May 20th 2017 all devices will have to give a consistent vape and not offer you the ability to alter the vape.
What this means is that under TPD regulations every time you press the fire button you will get a set amount of vapour for a set amount of time of pressing the button! at present this is a very grey area for the TPD as no product before or after the TPD rules come in to law can do this, but we will update this information if any changes to the TPD regulations are announced.
The final thoughts.
The Tobacco Products Directive is a good and a bad thing for vapers, we as vapers are all for safe e-liquids, we want to know what ingredients are included, we want to know if it’s safe to inhale the vapour, we want child safety caps in place on the bottles to protect younger family members from accidentally getting hold of a bottle, we want clear safe liquid and sturdy packaging and we want a cap on nicotine amounts and quality on the liquids we are purchasing, there has been in the past liquids on the market that were not of a good and standard quality but now there will be, so all in all the e-liquid part of the directive is a great thing for vapers even though the bottles are smaller than they were in the past.
We can even see the point of having smaller tank sizes that can only hold 2ml of e-liquid and that do not leak, However!?what says the same tank in a 5ml size could not be fitted with the same leak proof design?
We can see a lot of good to come from the TPD but we can also see a lot of grey areas that probably will never be enforceable as a regulation, but it?will be?interesting to see how vaping goes in the future as part of the Tobacco Products Directive.
I would like to leave you with one?final thought on vaping and the Tobacco Products Directive.
Vaping is so much healthier for you than smoking a cigarette and yet vaping is coming under all these pressures to conform to a set of rules and regulations to make it safe to do and to enjoy, but here is the kicker in all of the regulations that the vaping industry is having to do to justify itself as a safe industry.
Cigarettes and Tobacco have never had to subject themselves for testing under the same strict Tobacco Products Directive?
Our Commitment to our customers.
Vapour Shack are 100% dedicated to The Tobacco Product Directive and will only be carrying stock from May 20th 2017 that conforms to the Directive, we can offer you the?new vaper compliant products to help you start in your vaping life and help you get off the cigarettes for good, our experienced staff are here to help and advise at every step of?your vaping journey and of coarse we will still be here for our trusty and loyal?customers who already enjoy vaping with us.
